Another home game and another home loss. It is not as if we played poorly. We should have scored at least two goals in the first half and done better defensively, but the net result was a loss. It seems as if this has been the story of our season so far. We outplay our opponents in many facets of the game, fail to put away our chances, and give up weak goals. It is difficult to deal with these losses especially considering we have 13 or 14 players giving everything they have. Even yesterday, Beckett and Tyler gave their all after colliding and splitting open cuts on their lips and eyebrow. What do you say after these games? It is even more upsetting that we are 0-4 at home. There is no way we can plan on having a successful season if we fail to take care of things at home.
My grandfather came up to me after the game and reminded me that it was just a game and that losing was not the end of the world. In many ways he has a good point in that there is nothing we can do to change the previous games and can only look to improve upon in the future. But in the same respect losing is not just about a 90 minute game. We prepared for the Duke game for one full week. This included two hour practices, daily treatments, video sessions, chalk talks, eating right, and getting the proper rest. If you think about it, every player and coach put in countless hours of work this week for a 90 minute game. So it is not just about losing the game, but also all the physical and mental activity dedicated towards the game.
Our next game is an important regional game against American. They are always a difficult team and provide for a tough game. We have to bounce back from this weekend's poor performance and start to establish ourselves at home and in the region.
