Maryland Women's Tennis Team Sweeps American, 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland women's tennis team improved to 6-3, defeating American University by the score of 7-0. All six Terps notched wins in singles play, highlighted by freshman Emily DeCamilla's (Sacramento, Calif.) ninth straight win. The doubles tandem of two-time All-ACC Delila Causevic (Sarajevo, Bosnia) and team captain Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) also remains undefeated for the spring season.
At No. 1 singles, Causevic handed American's Olga Mikhailova, a 6-0, 6-4 loss. Marker defeated Alexandria Zerkalova, 6-4, 6-1. Senior Pamela Floro (Manila, Philippines) won the No. 3 match-up, in a come from behind victory over Eagle Kristina Georgieva, after dropping the first set 4-6. All three Terps, junior Marta Jedrzejak (Seiradz, Poland), Chloe Chavardes (St. Nomblabreteche, France) and DeCamilla recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Doubles team of Floro and Chavardes defeated American's Melissa Rausch and Annemarie Schoemaker, 8-0. Jedrzejak and DeCamilla failed to muster out a win against Eagles, Mikhailova and Zerkalova, falling by the score of 8-6.
Terps gear up for a busy weekend in Syracuse, N.Y. Maryland plays Syracuse on March 9 and head coach Martin Novak's former team, the University of Minnesota, the following day.
