COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Maryland will close out its longest homestand in 20 years this Saturday when it hosts the surprising Wofford Terriers in a non-conference game at Byrd Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET.
The Terps, who are averaging 46,098 fans in three home dates this season, are on pace for their best home attendance average since 1985, when Maryland averaged a school-record 49,385 fans in five home dates.
The Terriers, members of the Southern Conference, were a late replacement to the Maryland schedule last spring, taking the spot created when Troy State opted out of its contract last February.
Wofford on Saturday ran its season record to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in league play with a 14-7 victory over eighth-ranked Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. Wofford is off to its best start since 1991. Georgia Southern won Division I-AA national championships in 1999 and 2000.
The Terriers scored the winning touchdown with less than four minutes remaining in the game on a one-yard run by running back Jesse McCoy, who totaled 114 rushing yards and scored both of his team's touchdowns.
Last year, Wofford lost road games at Clemson and South Carolina by identical 38-14 scores.
The last time Maryland played as many as four consecutive home games was in 1983.
