
Four Terps Taken In First Two Rounds of MLS Draft

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Four Maryland Terrapins were selected in the first two rounds of the Major League Soccer (MLS) draft, including first round selections Clarence Goodson and Scott Buete, held Friday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C.
Goodson a Nike Project-40 player (which means he is a roster protected player; and does not count against [a] a team's 18-man senior roster limit or [b] against team salary budget), was taken with the seventh overall pick by the Dallas Burn. Buete, a 2003 All-American, was the ninth overall selection by the Chicago Fire.
Seth Stammler was taken with the eighth pick in the second round (18th overall) by the MetroStars and Hermann Trophy finalist Sumed Ibrahim was selected with the 10th pick in the second round (20th overall) by Chicago.
The four Maryland players taken in the first two rounds were the most of any school. It was also the most Terrapin players to be selected in a single MLS draft.
