First Look: Jones-Hill House, Home of Maryland Football

The University of Maryland football team toured Jones-Hill House, the new home of Terrapin football, on Friday morning. It marked the first time that the student-athletes were able to see the building, which will become the fully functioning home of the Terps starting on June 14.

The state-of-the-art facility provides upgrades in all areas that will aid in creating the consummate student-athlete experience. Jones-Hill House puts Maryland front and center as having one of the top football facilities in the entire country.

Strength & Conditioning

Jones-Hill House Strength & Conditioning Room
  • 24,000 Square Feet (4x the size of the S&C room inside Gossett Football Team House)
  • 22 custom weight racks, developed by Maryland and engineered by Rogue specifically for the Terrapin football players.
  • Racks include Perch video technology, which serves as a coaches eye to capture reps and speed of movement; also has facial recognition software to track the student-athletes
  • Custom flooring by PLAE with 40 yards of turf where the athletes can do speed development, acceleration and plyometric work
  • Custom bar bells, plates and dumb bells by Eleiko
  • Large video wall that’s visible from the stadium
  • Fueling stations just steps away from weight room

Helmets Display

  • Wall display featuring various helmets worn throughout the years
  • Includes helmets worn since the 1940’s through current day

Locker Room

Jones-Hill House Locker Room
  • 126 individual lockers
  • Each locker features a recliner with ottoman, a custom turtle shell wireless phone charger and vents in all storage spaces to cool and dry clothing and equipment
  • Lighting in and around the lockers is controlled via an app

Players’ Lounge

  • Custom pool table
  • Calvert & Crossland custom LED lighting above
  • Barber shop that turns into a DJ station

Sports Medicine

Jones-Hill House Sports Medicine
  • Three times the size of the Sports Medicine area in the Gossett Football Team House
  • This area will be available and used for student-athletes from a variety of sports
  • Specific areas for treatment, rehab and taping
  • Features two 45-foot plunge pools for immediate cooling and recovery 
  • Features a Hydroworks pool for athletes to use that are recovering from lower body injuries.

Jones-Hill House Outdoor Practice Fields
  • Two full length grass practice fields
  • Doors to the Offensive and Defensive team meeting rooms lead right to the fields allowing players to step from meetings right onto the fields.
  • Players return inside Jones-Hill House from the field to a mud room where they can remove their cleats and tape and also grab a nutritional snack

Meeting Rooms

  • Each position meeting room features tiered seating based on the size of the room
  • Outside of each position room is a Terrapin tale highlighting one of the great players or moments from each position group.
  • Inside each room is a display listing Maryland legends at each position

Auditorium

  • Features 196 seats in a massive area that extends over two stories
  • Projection room that will allow coaches and players to watch film and utilize various streaming platforms to watch movies and sporting events.
