Harkening back to the glory days of the 1980s, Maryland football will wear a special throwback uniform for its season opener vs. West Virginia on Sept. 4 in a nationally-televised game on ESPN at 3:30 p.m.

Recognizing the 25th Anniversary of Under Armour, the Terps will don these special white Airvent ArmourGrid jerseys with red numbers and black and gold trim. The look will be complete with red helmets featuring the iconic Terps script logo and red pants to mirror the team's look of the 1980s.

The design and execution of the uniforms features a 'future/throwback' look recognizing the past while pushing the future.

The jersey is lightweight ripstop fabric designed to resist rips and tears with lightweight stretch Smoke Stack mesh for breathability and improved fit.

The uniform features a lenticular back-neck lockertag containing two overlapping images recognizing Maryland's glorious era of the 1980s and 25th anniversary of UA. The throwback branding features the Terps 1980s logo while the modern branding includes Maryland's M-Bar logo of 2021.

The uniform numbers are a unique laser-cut pattern created to mimic traditional porthole meshing.

The Throwback Under Armour is a dimensional TPU applique, showcased on the  jersey left-chest and pant right-hip. The throwback Terps logo is also a  dimensional TPU applique on the pant left-hip.

The sleeve stripes are plastisol screen-printed to mimic traditional execution and enhance color vibrancy. The pant stripe is sublimated on the side-panel to mimic 1980s uniform.
