Maryland Baseball pitcher
Ryan Ramsey took home a bevy of awards this week after throwing the 20th nine-inning perfect game in college baseball history last Friday night against the Northwestern Wildcats in Maryland's 13-0 victory.
Ramsey was named the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of The Week and Collegiate Baseball's National Player Of The Week on Monday and on Tuesday was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NWCBA) Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week, the Golden Spikes Award Performance of the Week, and the Perfect Game/Rawlings Pitcher of the Week. He capped it off by being named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday.
The southpaw pitched one of the greatest games in college baseball history on Friday, April 29th, against Northwestern when he threw 118 pitches and sat down all 27 batters that came to the plate, with 10 coming via the strikeout.
As the newly entrenched Friday night starter, Ramsey currently sits second in the entire country with eight wins with a 2.42 ERA, 69 strikeouts, .176 batting average against all in 70.2 innings pitched.
