As off-campus living has become increasingly popular for college students, Tempo College Park has become one of the most hotly desired apartment buildings for Maryland students thanks to its high-scale amenities, close proximity to campus and brand new facilities. It’s also become a favorite for Terrapin student-athletes, with players on numerous teams residing there.

And in the new age of Name, Image and Likeness, both the Tempo and Maryland student-athletes have been able to benefit from a partnership. Tempo receives social media advertising from quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and women’s lacrosse attacker Libby May while the student-athletes get compensated and receive housing benefits.

"Tempo has done a great job of creating genuine partnerships with Maryland student-athletes like Libby and Taulia,” said Grayson Wagner, Maryland’s Director of NIL. “It is very important for student-athletes to have a place to live that feels like home and provides an escape from the grind of being a student and D1 athlete, so these partnerships just make sense! We appreciate all the support that Tempo provides to both the department and student-athletes."

The partnership is really about promoting girls of color on the field and trying to make the soccer field more inclusive. My story is about how when I was younger I was always one of the smaller players on the field and it was a setback for me because a lot of coaches overlooked me as a player.

In his first couple of Instagram posts in partnership with Tempo, Tagovailoa mentions “living brand new with Team Tempo” and shows off the luxury penthouse he was gifted as part of the partnership. A year later, the partnership is still going strong.

"My partnership with Tempo has provided me with the opportunity to have a great living experience in College Park,” Tagovailoa said. “It's a really nice place to bring friends and teammates when we have down time to escape from the day to day and they are huge supporters of us, always wishing me good luck before games."

The opportunity to partner with a company that is exclusive to College Park and the University of Maryland makes this a special NIL opportunity for the student-athletes.

"Tempo is an incredible and loyal partner of the Terps and specifically the Maryland Women’s Lacrosse team,” May said. “Not only do they provide consistent support to our university’s student-athletes, but they offer luxury housing with countless modern amenities! I am proud to collaborate with this organization and am grateful for another year to do so as a Terp!"
