Football is back in College Park! Maryland began preseason training camp on August 6 as the Terps gear up for the 2021 season, which is set to kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 4 at home against West Virginia.

August 28
The Maryland football team wrapped up its 2021 preseason camp on Saturday afternoon. The Terps started the day by taking their annual team photo before returning to the field for a light walk-through.

August 26
With heavy winds and rain in the College Park area, the Terps headed to their indoor facility for Thursday's practice. After consecutive practices outside in full pads, the players were in just helmets as they near game week. Check out the best pics from Thursday!
Wednesday night brought another extremely emotional moment inside Jones-Hill House as Prince George's County legend and NBA superstar Kevin Durant showed up on Zoom during the evening team meeting. That wasn't the only surprise though as Durant announced to the team that senior defensive lineman Greg Rose has been put on full scholarship. Watch the moment below!

August 25

August 24
The Terps returned to the practice field on Tuesday, donning full pads for the first time since Saturday's scrimmage. With the 2021 season opener now just 11 days away, the intensity continues to rise with each practice.
Hear The Turtle continued its preseason training camp podcast series as the boys caught up with sophomore linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II to get his perspective on the team's progress in fall camp, an unconventional freshman season and his journey to Maryland.

One of the most special moments of camp occurred on Sunday when Coach Locksley inked one of his most important recruits of all-time. The entire Maryland football team gathered to welcome their newest teammate, Cal Taylor. This is a video you don't want to miss!

One of the staples of a Maryland football fall camp is our annual crab feast. Some newcomers to the team enjoyed crabs for the first time and had to lean on the local players and staff to show them how to maximize their crab picking experience.

Coach Locksley continues to bring in big-name motivational speakers during camp and Sunday was no different as former NFL star Mike Vick came to Jones-Hill House to share his journey, his trials and tribulations and what's he's learned through it all.
August 21
We're just two weeks from kicking off the 2021 season! Maryland held its second scrimmage of preseason camp on Saturday. It was cut short due to lightening in the area, however, the Terps ran through 95 plays and got a lot of work in. Check out Coach Locksley's thoughts on how his team looked.

Friday brought a camp surprise for the Terps as their morning practice turned into a walk-through and Coach Locksley surprised the team by taking them to the bowling alley.

Coach Locksley met with the media after practice to give his thoughts on the teams mindset, what he's looking for as the next scrimmage gets closer, and what it meant to award Challen Faamatau a scholarship at the Ravens game this past weekend.
Every preseason camp, Coach Locksley brings in guest speakers to talk to the team about a variety of life topics. Former Terp Domonique Foxworth spoke to the team earlier this week about his journey and how using the resources he was provided while he was a player benefited him in his variety of careers since his playing days ended. Check out this sneak peak of his message to the team.

August 18
Maryland held its second evening practice of the week on Wednesday. With rain hitting College Park for much of the day, the Terrapins headed to their indoor practice facility inside Jones-Hill House.
Sophomore tight end Corey Dyches made the play of the day with this one-handed grab off a pass from quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

August 17
After practicing in just helmets on Monday, the Terps were back in full pads for Tuesday afternoons practice on the Jones-Hill House fields. After practice, some of the Maryland coaches and players caught up with the Big Ten Network, which was on site to check out the Terps in action.
After practice, the players went to the dining hall in Jones-Hill House and were surprised with another themed dinner. This time it was Carnival Night! The moment that stole the show was when the players had a chance to pie their head coach.

Week two of preseason camp is in full swing! The players may have had Sunday off from being on the field, but they've been working hard watching film and in meetings.
After a morning walk-thru, the Terps held their first night practice of camp on Monday evening. The weather conditions continued to provide chances for the team to push through adversity. However, instead of hot weather, this time it was rainy conditions in College Park.

Scrimmage #1 is in the books and the word of the day was "competitive" as Coach Locksley saw his players battling on both sides of the ball as the Terps played inside The Shell for the first time this preseason. Hear some more from Coach here.

Terp fans should be familiar with the Taulia Tagovailoa to Dontay Demus Jr. connection as the duo hooked up for a trio of touchdowns last season. One of the highlight plays from Saturday's scrimmage came when Tagovailoa hit Demus for a 20-yard TD to end the two-minute drill period.

The players have a day off the field Sunday before kicking it back into gear on Monday with their first night practice of camp. But on Friday night, the Terps headed to M&T Bank Stadium to watch the hometown Ravens take on the New Orleans Saints where one Terp received a special surprise.

August 13
The Maryland football team returned to the practice fields on Friday for its final tune-up before Saturday's scrimmage. The Terps began the day outside, but with lightning in the area moved to the indoor to conclude practice.
That's it. Week 1 of Fall Training Camp is in the books and Maryland Athletics Staff Writer Matt Gilpin is providing Terp fans with a look back on what's happened during the first week.
Maryland football has wrapped up its first week of camp after a fierce and feisty few days of practices.
The Terps held their first practice in full pads on Thursday and moved to their indoor practice facility to escape the heat.
Head coach Michael Locksley was proud of the way the team handled the adversity all week and liked his team's effort and level of competition. With the team now on the field, the coaching staff can finally gauge just how deep the talent level is at all positions.
“The big thing is that we’ve got bodies,” Locksley said. “Normally in the spring when you’re a little thin you’re not able to practice the way we would want to practice. I’ve been pleased with our depth and I’ve been pleased with how we’ve upgraded the roster from top to bottom.”

The Terps held their fifth practice of preseason camp on Wednesday, the last in helmets and shoulder pads before going full pads on Thursday. With hot temperatures in the area, the team built in extra breaks and cooling sessions into the practice plan.
A name Terp fans should continue familiarizing themselves with is that of junior defensive back Deonte Banks. In his first two seasons as a Terp, Banks played in 16 of Maryland's 17 games with 11 starts. He's expected to be a key contributor and leader of the Maryland defense in 2021. We mic'd up the Baltimore native at a recent practice to get a feel for his energy and to get a glimpse at some of his dance moves!

The Maryland football team returned for Day 2 of preseason camp on Saturday. The Terps started their day with a lift and a walk-thru before returning to the fields for their second practice of camp. For the second straight day, the players were in helmets, but no pads.
Rewind back to earlier this week when Coach Locksley had all of the freshmen and newcomers over to his house for a welcome dinner that included intense competition on the basketball court, ping pong table and more!
