The Fall 2022 issue of ONE MARYLAND Magazine recently arrived in the mailboxes of Terrapin Club members. ONE MARYLAND features stories of strength and perseverance, of determination and spirit. These stories define our athletics program, and this new magazine will allow us to share these stories with you. Maryland Athletics is fortunate to have a pair of legendary National Championship coaches leading their programs in special anniversary seasons this fall.
Missy Meharg is leading Maryland field hockey for the 35th season while Sasho Cirovski is in his 30th season as the head coach of the men's soccer program.
Sasho Cirovski

30 - For 30 seasons, Sasho Cirovski has exuded Excellence on the sidelines of Maryland men's soccer, beginning his run in College Park in 1993.
400+ - Cirovski became the ninth Division I men's soccer head coach to win 400 career games, entering 2022 with 440 overall victories (414 at Maryland).


3 - Cirovski has led the Terrapins to three National Championships, winning the program's first title in more than 30 years in 2005 and adding two more crowns in 2008 and 2018.



29 - Cirovski's 29 NCAA Tournament appearances rank him first in the history of NCAA Division I soccer (27 at Maryland, two at Hartford). He has guided the Terps to nine appearances in the College Cup.
12 - The star players that have come through College Park during Cirovski's tenure is a list unmatched in college soccer. He has produced 12 full USA internationals and made Maryland the only school with alums in the last four FIFA Men's World Cups.
Missy Meharg
35 - Since taking the reins of Maryland field hockey in 1988 Missy Meharg has built a program that truly embodies their mantra of “Best of The Best” both on the pitch and in the classroom.
600+ - In 2021, Meharg became the third Division I head coach to reach the 600-win mark, making her the winningest Maryland coach across all sports.


7 - Meharg has won seven national titles ... the most of any current Maryland head coach and third-most in NCAA field hockey history.







6 - Meharg has coached six National Player of The Year recipients including two-time winner Katie O’Donnell Bam. Meharg has also coached 56 All-Americans, 19 Conference Player of the Year recipients and eight Olympians.
3 - In recognition of her tremendous success, Meharg has been inducted into three prestigious halls of fame (NFHCA Hall of Fame, Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame, and DC Sports Hall of Fame).
