Maryland Athletics is celebrating the first 25 years of the 21st century by looking back at some of the greatest Terps from all of our sports. Listed in alphabetical order, these Terps represented the best of the University of Maryland from 2000-25. Join us each week in the month of December as we look back at some of the greatest to even don the red, white, black and gold.

Audrey Barber

Gymnastics • 2018-22

  • Holds the all-time career scoring record at Maryland with 2234.025 points
  • Set the single-season scoring record as a freshman in 2018 with 586.425 points
  • Tied the individual all-around record with a 39.625 at the Towson Quad as a senior in 2022
  • Scored the three highest all-arounds in school history at NCAA Regionals
  • Tied for the school record in the uneven bars with a 9.950
  • Helped the Terps score four of the Top 10 all-time team scores during her career

Track & Field • 2005-08

  • Inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022
  • Three-time All-American (Indoor 60 Hurdles - 2006 and 2007, Outdoor 110 Hurdles - 2006)
  • NCAA Runner-Up in 110 Hurdles in 2006
  • Four-time ACC champion (Indoor 60 Hurdles - 2006 and 2007, Outdoor 110 Hurdles - 2006 and 2007)
  • Six-time All-ACC selection (Indoor & Outdoor from 2006-08)
  • Holds the second-fastest time in Maryland history in outdoor 110 Hurdles when he graduated, only behind Renaldo Nehemiah
  • Still holds the school record in the indoor 60 Hurdles (7.67) by .25 seconds
  • Continued to compete after graduation and finished second in the 60 Hurdles at the 2014 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships

Men's Lacrosse • 2017-21

  • JB1 ended his career as Maryland's all-time record holder in career points (290), goals (202), single-season points (99), single-season goals (71), goals in a single NCAA Tournament (18), and points in a single NCAA Tournament (24).   
  • 2021 Tewaaraton Award Winner
  • 2021 Lt. Raymond Enners Memorial Nation's Most Outstanding Player Award
  • 4x USILA All-American (2021, 2019, 2018, 2017)
  • Led the Terps to three NCAA Final Fours and helped the team win the 2017 NCAA Championship
  • 2021 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and Big Ten Tournament MVP

Hayley Brock

Women's Soccer • 2011-13

  • The most dominant offensive player in the 21st century for Maryland women’s soccer.
  • Scored more points (80), goals (32), and game-winning goals (9) than any Maryland women’s soccer player since 2001.
  • Her 32 points on 13 goals and six assists in 2012 are the most in a single season this century.
  • Helped lead the Terrapins to two NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 berth in 2012
  • A two-time All-ACC selection and was an All-Southeast Regional honoree in 2012.

Anthony Cowan Jr.

Men's Basketball • 2017-20

  • Uno, as he was affectionately known as during his Terrapin tenure, helped lead Maryland to the 2020 Big Ten Championship, the school’s first conference title, since 2010.
  • Finished his career as the school’s all-time leader in consecutive starts (130) and free throws made (579)
  • Second on the all-time charts in career minutes (4395), career minutes/g (33.8), and career starts (130)
  • Ranks in the Top 10 in the school record book in career double-figure games (4th, 107), career assists (5h, 584), and career points (5th, 1881)
  • Led the Terps to two NCAA tournaments with the 2020 tournament cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic
