25 for 25: The Top 25 Student-Athletes From The Last 25 Years

Maryland Athletics is celebrating the first 25 years of the 21st century by looking back at some of the greatest Terps from all of our sports. Listed in alphabetical order, these Terps represented the best of the University of Maryland from 2001-25. Join us each week in the month of December as we look back at some of the greatest to ever don the red, white, black and gold.
Note: Student-athletes were selected based upon their performance from Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2025. Student-athletes needed to compete in at least two seasons during this 25-year period.
Matt Rambo
Men's Lacrosse • 2014-17

- 2017 Tewaaraton Award winner - the first in Maryland men’s lacrosse history
- Led the Terps to four NCAA Final Fours and helped the team win the 2017 NCAA Championship
- Ended his career as Maryland's all-time record holder in career points (257) and goals (155), and is currently third all-time in both categories.
- 2017 Enners Award (Nation's Most Outstanding Player)
- 2x USILA All-American (2017, 2016)
- 2017 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year
- Led Maryland to three Big Ten Championships (2015-17)

- Maryland's first-ever two-time Tewaaraton Award winner (2012 and 2013)
- Three-time Tewaaraton Award finalist (2011, 2012, 2013)
- One of only four Maryland women's lacrosse players to be a four-time All-American (first-team in 2011-13 and third-team - 2010)
- One of only five Terps in women's lacrosse history to be a three-time first team All-American
- Maryland's first-ever three-time IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year
- 2010 NCAA Champion, Four NCAA Tournament and Final Four appearances, Four-time NCAA All-Tournament team
- Two-time ACC Offensive Player of the Year, 2010 ACC Freshman of the Year, Four-time All-ACC, Four-time ACC Champion, Two-time ACC Tournament MVP (2012 & 2013), Three-time ACC All-Tournament team (2011-13)

- 2023 Polynesian College Football Offensive Player of the Year
- Also holds the Maryland career records for completions (955), completion percentage (67.1%), passing touchdowns (76), 300-yard passing games (15), and total offense (11,473)
- Set Maryland single season records for passing yards (3,860 in 2021), completions (328 in 2021), completion percentage (69.2% in 2021), touchdowns (26 in 2021, Tied with Scott Milanovich (1993)), and 300-yard passing games (7 in 2021)
- Led Maryland to three bowl games and was the starting QB for two bowl victories
