25 for 25: The Top 25 Student-Athletes From The Last 25 Years

Maryland Athletics is celebrating the first 25 years of the 21st century by looking back at some of the greatest Terps from all of our sports. Listed in alphabetical order, these Terps represented the best of the University of Maryland from 2001-25. Join us each week in the month of December as we look back at some of the greatest to ever don the red, white, black and gold.
Note: Student-athletes were selected based upon their performance from Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2025. Student-athletes needed to compete in at least two seasons during this 25-year period.
Taylor Cummings
Women's Lacrosse • 2013-16

- Led Maryland to two NCAA Championships (2014 & 15) and four Final Four appearances
- The first and only three-time Tewaaraton Award winner (2014-16)
- Three-time Honda Award winner (2014-16)
- Four-time IWLCA First Team All-American (2013-16)
- Three-time IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year (2014, '15, '16)
- 2014-15 Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year
- Is the school’s all-time leader in draw controls (509)
- Holds the school record for points (323) and goals (229) by a midfielder

Stefon Diggs
Football • 2012-14
- One of the most dynamic players to ever grace the gridiron at Maryland
- A two-time all-conference selection
- Despite playing just three seasons (and being injured for much of his sophomore season), he ranks among the top 10 in career receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns
- One of only nine Terps in history to total more than 2,000 career receiving yards
- Also a dangerous returner on special teams and ranks sixth in career kickoff return yardage and is one of just nine Terrapins in history with multiple career kickoff return touchdowns.

- ACC men’s basketball player of the year and ACC male Athlete of the year in 2002
- Three-time first team All-ACC player selected to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team
- All-time leading scorer at Maryland with 2,269 points
- Member of the 2002 NCAA Championship Team
