Head coach Michael Locksley was active in the transfer portal this offseason as Maryland football welcomed 17 transfers. Here’s everything you need to know about each incoming transfer ahead of the 2025 season. 

Gavin Edwards

Defensive Back

(Austin Peay)

Gavin Edwards enters Maryland’s defensive back room with three years of eligibility. Before participating in spring football at Austin Peay this offseason, he spent two seasons at Division II North Greenville University, including a redshirt season in 2023. The Alvin, S.C. native played in seven games during the 2024 season, recording 29 total tackles (21 solo) and six passes defended.

Jalil Farooq

Wide Receiver
6-1, 208, Sr.
(Oklahoma)

Jalil Farooq is a native of Lanham, Md., who attended Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr High School. He played in 36 career games at Oklahoma across four seasons from 2021-24, making 25 starts. In those games, he totaled 89 receptions for 1,287 yards and seven TDs. He also made a significant impact in the return game, compiling 708 yards on 32 kickoff returns. Farooq only played two games in 2024 due to injury. However, he was a 2023 Honorable Mention All-Big 12 Selection. That season, he started all 13 games, totaling 694 yards on 45 receptions (15.4 yards per catch) and two touchdowns. The receiver was a consensus four-star and top-200 national recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals coming out of high school. Farooq, a former All-American bowl invitee and two-time All-Met selection, helped Wise to a 15-0 record and the Maryland 4A state title in his junior season. 

Jalil Farooq
I’m excited to be here to play for Coach Locksley. We have a long history in recruiting, and he’s always been a great guy to me. I took my journey somewhere else for the beginning of my career, but I'm super grateful to be back home and play for my city.

Dorian Fleming

Tight End
6-3, 234, R-So.
(Georgia State)

Dorian Fleming is a native of the DMV from Henrico, Va. He comes to Maryland with three years of eligibility after spending two seasons from 2023-24 at Georgia State. Fleming is coming off a breakout season in which he was named Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference, College Football Network All-Sun Belt First Team Offense and a HERO Sports G5 All-American. The tight end was Georgia State’s second-leading receiver, hauling in 49 receptions for 558 yards and six TDs in 2024 after redshirting in 2023. In addition to his success on the field, he was named to the 2023-24 Academic Honor Roll for his academic excellence. Coming out of Life Christian Academy, Fleming was recruited as a three-star athlete and top 50 player out of Virginia.

Jamare Glasker

Defensive Back

(Wake Forest)

Jamare Glasker, a native of Temple Hills, Md. and a graduate of Potomac High School, returns to his home state with two years of eligibility remaining. The defensive back broke out in 2024 after redshirting in 2022 and seeing limited action in 2023. He started nine games during the 2024 season at Wake Forest, finishing the year with 37 tackles (33 solo) to go along with four pass breakups, three tackles-for-loss and an interception. Glasker was recruited as a three-star, top 30 overall cornerback in Maryland from high school. He also ran track, recording a personal-best 11.00 in the 100-meter dash at the MPSSAA 2A South Region Championships as a senior.

Jamare Glasker
I’m excited to be here because this is my hometown back in Maryland. I always went to Maryland camps growing up, so it's really a dream come true to come here. I’m also excited to be back home close to my family so they can make it to games this year.

DD Holmes

Defensive Line 
6-6, 255, R-Fr.
(Florida State)

DD Holmes returns to the state of Maryland with four years of eligibility after redshirting in 2024 at Florida State. Holmes is a native of Washington, D.C., who attended Gonzaga College High School. He was a four-star prospect out of high school and ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in D.C. by On3 and 247Sports. Overall, he was the No. 22 edge recruit in America, according to On3, earning an ESPN300 selection. Holmes recorded 19 tackles, eight of which were for a loss, to go along with three sacks, one interception and two touchdown receptions in his senior year to help Gonzaga reach the semifinal round of the WCAC playoffs. Holmes appeared in one game with the Seminoles during his true freshman season, notching one tackle and two QB hurries.

It's good to be back in my hometown and putting on for the people who watched me grow. I feel like the coaching staff gives a lot of love to the players, and they really push us to be the best people and football players we can be.

Dontay Joyner

Defensive Back
6-0, 174, Jr.
(Arkansas State)

Dontay Joyner appeared in 24 games across two seasons from 2023-24 at Arkansas State, registering 69 tackles (45 solo), two interceptions and nine passes defended. In 2024, he tallied 50 tackles (33 solo), a team-high seven pass breakups and two interceptions. According to Pro Football Focus, he earned an 80.3 defensive grade last season. The grade was the third-highest among cornerbacks in the Sun Belt. Furthermore, his 79.0 coverage grade ranked fifth. Joyner was a three-star recruit by 247Sports, On3 and ESPN. He helped Lakeland High School in Florida win a state title as a senior in the state's second-highest classification, leading the Dreadnaughts to a perfect 14-0 record. The defensive back has two years of eligibility remaining.

Dontay Joyner
When I hit the transfer portal, Maryland was one of the teams that just stood out to me, and actually wanted me to develop as a better person on and off the field. I looked over what they’ve done and what they’ve accomplished, and they’ve had a lot of success sending players to this league. I just want to be next, and I hope I am.

Justyn Martin

Quarterback
6-4, 220, R-Jr.
(UCLA)

Justyn Martin appeared in five games across three seasons at UCLA from 2022-24 and transferred to Maryland with two years of eligibility. Last season, he appeared in three games, including a start vs. Penn State on Oct. 5, where he went 22-of-30 for 167 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Academically, the quarterback earned a spot on the Spring 2023, Winter 2023, Fall 2022 and Spring 2022 Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was named to the 2022-23 and 2023-24 Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll. Martin is a former four-star recruit according to 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. He was ranked No. 228 overall by Rivals and the No. 14 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2022. Martin passed for more than 2,100 yards and 41 touchdowns in 2021 while leading Inglewood High School to the Ocean League title and a CIF Southern Section Division 2 semifinal appearance.

Justyn Martin
I'm excited to be here. I chose to come to Maryland for the opportunity to put up big numbers and have high-level quarterback play. Coach Locksley has done a great job of developing quarterbacks of all shapes and sizes, and I truly feel like it wasn't an accident for me to be here. I feel like God put me here for a reason, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.

EJ Moore Jr.

EJ Moore Jr. comes to Maryland with three years of eligibility remaining. He spent his 2024 season at Western Carolina, where he was named a Phil Steele FCS Freshman All-American. Moore appeared in all 12 games that season, recording 18 tackles (three for loss) and ranking tied for second on the team with four quarterback hurries. He recovered a fumble after a blocked field goal to score his first collegiate touchdown. A native of Decatur, Ga., Moore Jr. attended Columbia High School, posting 63 tackles (24.5 for loss) and six sacks in 2023.

EJ Moore Jr.
I'm excited to be here because it feels like home. I’m also excited to play for Coach Locks. He has a reason to continue going, just like me, to back that up. It means a lot to play for somebody that has a purpose.

Carlos Moore

Offensive Lineman

(Elon) 

Carlos Moore, an attendee of St. John's College High School, arrives in College Park after starting 10 games for Elon during the 2024 season. Six of those starts were at right tackle and four were at left tackle. He also saw action in five games as a redshirt freshman in 2023. Moore played high school ball at St. John's in Washington, D.C., where current Terps Sean Williams and Shamar McIntosh also played. Moore was a team captain and helped his team go 31-8 over four seasons, including an 11-0 campaign in 2021. He comes to Maryland with two years of eligibility remaining.

Carlos Moore
I chose Maryland to be back home and play in front of the hometown crowd and fans. Being in the DMV, where I grew up, it’s very important to me to be around family, who live 20 minutes down the road from my school. I’m just glad to be back.

Sean O'Haire

Kicker
6-2, 183, R-Fr. 
(Richmond)

Sean O’Haire transferred to Maryland with four years of eligibility remaining, as he played in four regular-season games and one FCS playoff game in 2024 to maintain his redshirt season. He went a perfect 12-for-12 on field goals and 9-for-9 on PATs in his first-ever season playing football. The native of Ireland was named Coastal Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week as well as the Stats Perform FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week after contributing 17 points in Richmond's 35-24 victory over Towson. The 17 points were tied for the most points in a game in Richmond's history.

Sean O'Haire
I chose to come to Maryland to play Big Ten football. It’s one of the best conferences to play in, and I’m excited for the opportunity.

Rahtrel Perry

Offensive Lineman
6-5, 305, R-Jr.
(Central Connecticut State)

Rahtrel Perry played 26 career games across three seasons from 2022-24 at Central Connecticut State. This past season, he started all 13 games and helped his team win a Northeast Conference title and earn a berth in the FCS playoffs. Perry earned an All-NEC First Team selection as a key part of a Blue Devils O-line that allowed just seven sacks in the regular season and was second in the nation, allowing 0.58 sacks per game in 2024. Central Connecticut also boasted the third-best rushing offense in the NEC, averaging 143.3 yards per game on the ground. Perry stood out in the group, as he didn't allow a sack in two games against FBS competition. He transferred to Maryland as a top-10 offensive tackle in the portal, according to 247Sports, with two years of eligibility remaining, having redshirted his freshman season.

Cam Rice

Defensive Tackle

(Ohio & West Liberty)

Cam Rice is a graduate student who has recently completed stints at Ohio and West Liberty. He appeared in 12 games this past season at Ohio, recording 30 tackles (8.5 for loss) and three sacks. Rice spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at West Liberty, where he posted 89 tackles (37 for loss), 14.5 sacks, 11 pass breakups and six forced fumbles. He also intercepted two passes and blocked two kicks in 2023, being named a Division II All-American, nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II College Football Player of the Year) and finalist for the Cliff Harris Award (Small College Defensive Player of the Year).

Cam Rice
I chose to be at Maryland because my coaching staff and teammates really made this place feel like home. I'm excited, and we've got something special here cooking.

Jordan Scott

Wide Receiver

(Southwest Mississippi CC)

Jordan Scott was rated No. 6 overall in ESPN's Junior College Top 50 rankings and the No. 2 JUCO wide receiver and No. 12 overall JUCO player in the transfer portal by 247Sports. Scott reeled in 20 catches for 358 yards and four touchdowns in 2024 with Southwest Mississippi Community College. Before spending two seasons in Southwest Mississippi, he attended Lackawanna College in 2022. Scott was a four-time state champion at Appomattox County High School in Virginia. He was also a 2021 Titan Award nominee, a two-time First Team All-Area and Second Team All-State honoree.

I chose Maryland because I love the atmosphere and coaching staff. It was also closer to home, and it felt like home when I came on my visit.

Sedrick Smith

Defensive Line

(Alabama A&M)

Sedrick Smith spent the 2024 season at Alabama A&M, where he posted 20 tackles (3.5 for loss) and a pair of sacks in 11 games. A three-star portal addition, according to 247Sports, Smith redshirted his freshman season in 2023 at South Carolina State. He had offers out of high school from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Purdue. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Sedrick Smith
The coaching staff made everything feel like family on my visit. The coaching staff knew exactly what they wanted to do and how they wanted to move forward with me and my development. I feel like the Maryland football team is a family as a whole, and I feel like anyone who comes to Maryland will also say the same thing, that Maryland is a family.

Joel Starlings

Defensive Line

(North Carolina)

Joel Starlings is a former four-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 12 defensive tackle and the No. 4 player in the state of Virginia, according to ESPN. After redshirting in 2023, he appeared in three games in 2024, making his first career tackle against Charlotte. Starlings racked up a First-team All-State and two Second-Team All-State selections. The defensive lineman racked up 141 tackles (26 for loss), 10 sacks and three forced fumbles in his junior and senior years at Benedictine High School in Richmond Va. He has three years of eligibility remaining and follows his former position coach, Ted Monachino, at Maryland.

Joel Starlings
I chose Maryland because I'm excited to play with this coaching staff with NFL experience. Some have been playing for years, and have experience of how to play the game.

Eyan Thomas

Defensive Line

(Saint Francis)

Eyan Thomas played 15 games across two seasons at Saint Francis from 2023-24. After redshirting his freshman year, he registered 37 total tackles (17 solo and 7 for loss), 3.5 sacks and two passes defended in 11 games in 2024. He earned Second-Team All-NEC Defense honors for his breakout season. According to Pro Football Focus, Thomas received a 71.7 defensive grade and a 78.3 mark against the run. The Chichester, Pa. native also totaled an impressive 207 tackles, 18 sacks and seven forced fumbles at Chichester High School. Thomas has three years of eligibility left.

Eyan Thomas
I came to Maryland because of the coaching staff. We brought in Coach Monachino and are doing a really fine job as far as his scheme. The community here as a whole, everybody's nice, lovely, friendly and it's just a good environment to be around to play football.

Kaleb Webb

Wide Receiver
6-3, 204, R-Jr.
(Tennessee)

Kaleb Webb spent three seasons at Tennessee from 2022-24, playing in 23 games while helping the Volunteers earn a College Football Playoff berth in 2024 and a Citrus Bowl victory in 2023. He tallied 22 receptions for 214 yards and one touchdown in his career. Webb has two seasons of eligibility, as he redshirted his freshman year. The wide receiver is a former four-star prospect according to 247Sports, On3 and Rivals. He was ranked as the No. 160 overall player and No. 22 wide receiver prospect in the country by On3. Webb caught 83 passes for 1,601 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior in 2021 en route to being named the Georgia High School Football Daily Region 2-7A Player of the Year.

Kaleb Webb
I decided to come to Maryland because of the family culture that Coach Locks brings and for the ability to compete in the Big Ten. It's one of the best conferences in college football. I just want to win and play against the best.
