Stephen M. Schanwald Pavilion at XFINITY Center

The Stephen M. Schanwald Pavilion is housed inside Maryland's home for Terrapin Athletics, XFINITY Center. The facility was completed in the fall of 2002 and the first volleyball match was played in the pavilion on Aug. 29, 2003, a 3-1 loss to Tennessee in what was then called the "Comcast Center Gymnasium." The first wrestling dual was held on Jan. 13, 2005 against Navy. The venue has also served as a campus site for university special events and select community events.

Heading into the 2025 season, the venue was named for longtime supporter and Maryland alum Stephen M. Schanwald '77. On Dec. 3, 2024, an $18 million gift by Schanwald was announced. In recognition of the generosity of the trailblazing marketing executive with the Chicago Bulls, the XFINITY Center Pavilion and Football Practice Fields at Jones-Hill House were named for him along with the the Stephen M. Schanwald-Russ Potts External Operations Suite in the XFINITY Center, honoring him and his former mentor at Maryland.
