The University of Maryland Athletics is committed to providing opportunities for our student-athletes, coaches, and staff to give back to our local, national, and global community. Requests must comply with the guidelines listed below. Please note that submitting a request that fulfills all guidelines does not guarantee that the request will be approved. If the event is approved, student-athletes, coaches, and staff members will be assigned based on availability.
To protect the eligibility of Maryland student-athletes, all events are subject to the NCAA and institutional rules and regulations.
These include, but are not limited to the following restrictions:

To protect the eligibility of Maryland student-athletes, all events are subject to the NCAA and institutional rules and regulations.
These include, but are not limited to the following restrictions:
- For sponsored events, you must provide any promotional materials that will be used to ensure that the event complies with NCAA rules and regulations
- Student-athlete volunteers cannot accept benefits for participation in any event, activity, or project
- A student-athlete cannot attend an event which causes them to miss class
General Requests Guidelines:
- Events that involve student-athlete participation must be submitted one (1) month prior to the event date
- Events must be located within 35 miles of the UMD campus
- The standard participation by our student-athletes is up to two hours per event. Should an additional time commitment be desired, please provide a detailed rationale in the “Additional Information” field at the bottom of the request form.
- Requests that do not fit into one of our three categories (Health & Wellness, Civic Engagement, Education) will not be considered.
