POSTGAME NOTES: Clemson at Maryland
*Two players, Maryland's LaMont Jordan (4) and Clemson's Travis Zachery (3) combined for seven touchdowns on the ground.
*For Jordan, it marks the first time a Terrapin player rushed for four TDs since Charlie Wysocki ran for four against Virginia in 1981. It is only the third time a Maryland player has ever run for four or more. It also is only the third time in Terrapin history that a Maryland player has rushed for three or more scores twice in a season.
*For Zachery, it is the first time a Clemson player has rushed for three TDs since Emory Smith scored on three runs against Duke in 1995.
*Jordan's four touchdowns ties a Clemson record for most points scored by an opponent (24 points, four times, last by NC State's Torry Holt, 10-31-98).
*Clemson QB Woodrow Dantzler, starting just his second game of the season, ran and threw for a school record 415 yards in total offense (Bobby Gage vs. Auburn, 374 yards, 1947). He rushed for a school record 183 yards by a quarterback, while throwing 23 passes, completing 16, for 252 yards.
*Clemson's six rushing touchdowns were the most on the ground for a Tiger offense since scoring six against Long Beach State in 1990.
*The Tigers' 542 yards total offense marked the first time a Clemson offense surpassed 500 yards since totaling 606 vs. UT-Chattanooga in 1992.
*Neither team committed a turnover. For Maryland, second in the nation in turnover margin, it was the Terps' first game without a takeaway.
*Maryland's Lewis Sanders, third in the country in interceptions entering the contest with exactly one in each of five games, did not pick off a pass, but was credited with two break-ups.
*Maryland's 30 points were the most allowed by a winning Clemson team since 1984.
*It was the highest-scoring Maryland-Clemson game since 1992 at Byrd Stadium when Maryland won 53-23.
*By halftime, both teams had 100-yard rushers. Clemson QB Woodrow Dantzler had run 12 times for 117 yards. Maryland's LaMont Jordan was 14 for 103.
*For Jordan, it was his first game this season with 100 yards by the intermission. He had 93 yards in a 33-0 win over West Virginia.
*Jordan's 177 yards on 26 carries established a career rushing high for the third time this season, moving him to fourth on Maryland's career rushing chart. It was his third 100-yard game of the season and his 10th overall.
*Jordan rushed for three touchdowns for the second time this season to become the first Maryland player since Rick Badanjek in 1984 to rush for three TDs twice in a season. He is only the third player ever to rush for three or more twice in a game, in the same season.
*Jordan has scored a touchdown in nine straight games dating to last season. He has scored 14 TDs in his last 11 games.
*Jordan has had eight runs of 29 yards or more in his last eight games. His 49-yard TD against Clemson saved a fumble on an errant pitch, and was his longest scoring run of the season.
