MARYLAND COACH RON VANDERLINDEN:
"Our head athletic trainer Sandy Worth just informed me that for Erwyn Lyght, all the regular tests were negative. They are still going to do a few computerized scans, but everything looks good."
"We were the beneficiary of a really good first quarter where we created some opportunities and had a few things go our way-field position and turnovers-and we were able to capitalize on them and get up early. I was really proud of our football team for the way we were able to bounce back (from last week)."
"This was a very big game for us and I'm really proud of our guys. I think it was about as complete a win as what we have had. I would compare this win to the one over West Virginia. Carolina was 11-1 two year ago ... and for us to turn this thing around as quickly as we have - I feel very good about that."
"I thought LaMont (Jordan) played well, our defense played well, and we were good on special teams. I think it was about as complete a team victory as we have had."
"This is the fifth time that we have played well defensively. It is fair to say that we match up better with some teams than others right now, and we are going to get a severe test next week with Duke."
"(Duke) lost an overtime game to N.C. State, took Georgia Tech to the wire two weeks ago and beat Virginia three weeks ago. Although their record doesn't indicate it, they are a very good football team."
