COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland field hockey team (11-1, 3-0 ACC), which has won nine consecutive games, plays three non-conference games this week. The Terps travel to play at No. 9 James Madison (Oct. 5, 7:30 p.m.), and play host to Rutgers (Oct. 9, noon) and Radford (Oct. 10, 1 p.m.). Oct. 2. The Terps' current nine-game winning-streak is tied for the
sixth-longest in school history. It marks the second time in the last
two years that the Terps have won nine consecutive games at one point
during the season. Last season, as the Terps won the ACC championship
and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals, they won nine straight games
between Oct. 11 and Nov. 8. Both last season's and this season's
nine-game winning-streaks began after losses to Old Dominion.
Maryland's longest winning-streak came during the 1993 season when Missy
Meharg led the Terps to 15 consecutive victories on their way to the
national championship. The Terps were undefeated from Sept. 24 through
Nov. 21. Meharg led the Terps to three victories in the NCAA Tournament
and to Maryland's second national championship in school history.
