LaMont Jordan rushed for a school-record 306 yards for the third-best single-game effort in ACC history. Jordan carried a career-high 37 times, the fifth-most in Terrapin history. He was 23 yards shy of the ACC record of 329, set by John Leach of Wake Forest (vs. Maryland) in 1993. The second-best figure was North Carolina's Derek Fenner (vs. Virginia) in 1986.
Jordan's 306 yards were the most yards surrendered on the ground by Virginia since Fenner's 328 in 1986.
His 306 yards are tied for the 49th-best in NCAA history.
He had 145 yards on 19 carries by halftime to mark the third time this year he had reached the century mark by the intermission. His 90-yard run for TD was the longest of his career.
Maryland rushed for 445 yards on 67 carries. The Terps' 445 yards were the fifth-most in Maryland history and the best since a school-record 582 vs. Virginia in 1975. It was the second-best rushing day since Maryland's national prominence of the 1950s, specifically a 492-yard day vs. Missouri in 1954.
Jordan established a new Maryland single-season record with 1,632 yards, surpassing Charlie Wysocki's 1980 total of 1,359. It is the best season ever by an ACC junior and No. 3 all-time.
Jordan enters his senior season with 3,227 yards. He is just the fourth ACC junior ever to reach the 3,000 career plateau.
Jordan enters his senior season just 90 yards shy of the Terps' career rushing record of 3,317 yards, held by Charlie Wysocki from 1978-81. Jordan's 3,227 yards after three seasons are 18th in ACC history and just 1,375 from the mark held by NC State's Ted Brown (4,602) from 1975-77.
By comparison --- Jordan entered his junior campaign with 1,595 yards. He had 1,632 in his junior season, alone. He needs just 90 to reach the Maryland career standard and 1,376 to break the ACC career record. Jordan carried a career-high 37 times against the Cavaliers, averaging 9.2 yards per rush.
Jordan is 773 yards from becoming the 52nd player in NCAA history to eclipse the 4,000-yard career plateau. He is 1,773 yards from becoming the first ACC player ever to reach 5,000, and just the seventh in NCAA history. He needs to average 161.2 yards per game in 2000 to reach 5,000.
He finishes his junior season with an average of 148 yards per game and 6.1 yards per carry. He entered the game as one of three juniors ranked among the nation's top 10 rushing leaders.
Jordan's two touchdowns against Virginia pushed him past Rick Badanjek's Terrapin records for touchdowns and rushing touchdowns. Jordan's 16 rushing TDs and 17 overall (one receiving) both are school records. He finishes the season with 102 points which ties him with Badanjek's record 1984 school record.
Jordan passed the 100-yard mark for the seventh time this season and 14th time in his career (school records for season and career are 8 and 15, respectively).
He eclipsed the 200-yard plateau for the second time tie another school record. His 227 yards vs. Duke and his 306 yards vs. Virginia are the two best rushing games in the ACC this season.
