Ritchie Coliseum Fast-Facts

Dec. 10, 1999

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Ritchie Coliseum is the home of several Maryland athletic teams, including the volleyball team. It also houses the wrestling and gymnastics teams. Its seating capacity is 1,500.

The Terps volleyball team moved into Ritchie Coliseum during the 1997 season, a season that saw them run up a 25-0 regular season record, including a 10-0 mark at their new home court.

One year after the Terps moved into Ritchie, they played host to the 1998 ACC Volleyball Tournament.

Originally built in 1931, Ritchie Coliseum was one of the first athletic facilities on campus, joining the then nine-year old Byrd Stadium. Prior to its re-opening in 1997, Ritchie Coliseum was remodeled to accommodate the three Maryland teams who now reside there.
