Volleyball Downs George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va - Despite 32 kills from freshman Natalia Torres-Tirado, the George Mason women's volleyball team fell to Maryland, 15-13, 15-12, 7-15, 15-11, tonight at the John Linn Gym.
Torres-Tirado has now been in the "30-kill club" twice this season. Against San Diego State she had a career-high 38 kills in a five-game loss.
The Patriots fall to 3-19 on the year, while Maryland improved its record to 10-11 overall.
The Terrapins had 12 service aces in the match with six of those coming in Game 4 alone. Katie Jentes had a team-high four aces. Maryland was led by Beth Murphy with 19 kills and 10 digs. Kate hannas had 12 kills, 14 digs and three blocks and Jaime Summers had 10 kills, 13 digs and five total blocks.
Along with her 38 kills, Torres-Tirado had 11 digs and four service aces. Senior Kami Mullings had 12 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Freshman Shalen Reed had 10 kills and eight digs. Freshman Jill Pearson (Middleburg, VA) had a team-high five blocks. Sophomore Stacy Rosholt (Falls Church, VA) finished with seven digs for the Patriots. George Mason travels to Williamsburg on Friday for a 7:00 pm match at William & Mary. On Saturday the Patriots visit Virginia Commonwealth at 2:00 pm.
