Women's Volleyball Captures Temple Owls Apollo Classic Title

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The University of Maryland women's volleyball team avenged an earlier season loss to the Temple Owls on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Owls in five games, 15-13, 7-15, 5-15, 15-6, 15-12, to capture the championship of the Temple Owls Apollo Classic.

Maryland advanced to the championship of the Classic after defeating San Diego State on Friday afternoon in five games, 15-5, 12-15, 15-7, 9-15, 15-9. Senior outside hitter Kim Adolphs was named the Classic's MVP while senior Jaime Summers and junior Beth Murphy earned all-tournament honors.

Summers led all Terrapins on offense as she hit .329 in the two matches, including a .357 against Temple. The Pennsylvania native also totaled 24 digs in the 10 games and had seven blocks. Freshman Katie Cramer hit .591 in the Terps' win against Temple after posting 14 kills on 22 swings with one error. In the Terps' first match against San Diego State, Cramer totaled 12 block assists.

The Terps travel to Colorado this weekend for matchups with Colorado State (Friday) and 12th-ranked Colorado Buffaloes (Saturday).
