COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland (8-8, 2-4) continues its ACC road tour this week, traveling to Charlottesville, Va., on Tuesday for a matchup with Virginia (15-3, 4-2), and then meets Florida State (12-7, 3-3) on Sunday, Oct. 18, in Tallahassee. Virginia is currently in third place in the ACC standings while preseason favorite Florida State is tied for fifth with Wake Forest. The Cavaliers have not defeated the Terps in ACC regular-season play since a 3-1 win on Oct. 3, 1989. The Cavaliers also handed the Terps a 3-1 defeat at the James Madison Invitational that same year. Florida State last defeated Maryland on Nov. 18, 1994, in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. The last regular-season loss the Terps suffered to the Seminoles was a 3-1 defeat on Nov. 4, 1994.

TERPS SPLIT ON TOBACCO ROAD
Maryland traveled to Tobacco Road last weekend for matchups with NC State and North Carolina, and returned to College Park with a split. The Terps handed NC State a 3-2 defeat and fell to league-leading North Carolina in three games.
N.C. STATE REWIND
Senior middle hitter Jaime Summers (Conneaut Lake, Pa.) hit a team-high .386 and totaled a team-high 23 kills to lead the Terps past NC State in five games, 15-10, 12-15, 13-15, 15-10, 15-10. Defensively for the Terps, junior outside hitter Beth Murphy (Golden, Colo.) recorded a team-high 20 digs. Murphy also posted 19 kills and hit .267. Maryland hit .237 as a team, the first time it has hit above .200 since its win against American.
NORTH CAROLINA REWIND
Summers posted a team-high 10 kills and hit .421 in the Terps three-game loss (11-15, 9-15, 11-15) at North Carolina. The Tar Heels held the Terps to a .097 hitting percentage and had three player total double-figure kills and digs. Sophomore middle hitter Maren Stuart (Tampa, Fla.) led Maryland on defense with 14 digs, and Summers had five blocks.
SUMMERS BACK ON TRACK
Summers returned to seasons past this past weekend, totaling a season-high 23 kills against NC State, and hitting a season-high .421 against North Carolina. She recorded double-figure kills and digs against NC State for only the sixth time this season. She also totaled nine blocks this past weekend, including five blocks against North Carolina. Summers previously hit. 400 against Temple on Sept. 5, after totaling 14 kills on 25 swings with four errors. She is hitting .259 and is averaging 2.37 kills per game.
STUART EARNS FIRST START
Maryland sophomore middle hitter Maren Stuart (Tampa, Fla.) saw her first start of her young Terrapin career in the Terps' three-game loss at North Carolina this past Saturday. Stuart led all Terps on defense, totaling 14 digs. She also had three blocks. In Wednesday's match against NC State, Stuart came off the bench and totaled four digs and two blocks.

RECEIVING WILSON
Maryland freshman defensive specialist Autumn Wilson (Rising Sun, Md.) is seeing significant playing time in the back row. She has appeared in 43 of the Terps' 65 games and has seen action in all 16 matches. She has totaled 52 digs and is one of the Terps' best serve receivers.
BLOCKIN' TERPS
Maryland is third in the ACC in blocks per game with a 2.77 average (as of Oct. 6). Freshman Katie Cramer (Loveland, Colo.) and junior Kate Hannas (Ellicott City, Md.) rank fourth and eighth, respectively, in blocks per game with 1.29 and 1.17 respectively (as of Oct. 6).
MICHIGAN ENDS TERP STREAK Maryland's 33-match regular-season winning streak was snapped after Michigan defeated the Terps, 3-1, at the Georgetown Invitational on Sept. 4. It was the Terps' first regular-season loss since their loss to Florida on Oct. 18, 1996. The Wolverines won game one, 15-8, but the Terps came back in game two, grabbing a 15-13 win. The experienced Wolverine attack proved to be too much, however, for the young Terp squad, as they took the final two games, 15-8, 15-5, respectively.
QUICK SET
Freshman Libby Alberts (Eden Prairie, Minn.) has earned the starting nod for the Terps at the setter position. In her first year in a Maryland uniform, Alberts has totaled 616 assists in 64 games for a 9.63 per game average.

CRAMER AND HANNAS TOUGH UP FRONT Summers, Hannas and Cramer are part of Maryland's tall front line which is averaging 2.67 blocks per game. Cramer leads all Terps with 73 total blocks, including 20 block solos. Summers and Hannas have each totaled 65 blocks with Summers totaling 15 block solos and 50 block assists. Hannas had totaled 14 block solos and 51 block assists.
KRUGER'S COURT
Terrapin head coach Janice Kruger (Nebraska 77) begins her 11th season at Maryland after being named ACC Coach of the Year last season, her third such honor. Kruger has guided the Terps to back-to-back undefeated regular-season ACC records, and to a perfect 25-0 regular-season record last year. She owns a 215-120 record at Maryland, and has a 587-222-6 career record in her 20 years.

Kruger is 13 wins shy of career-win No. 600. Kruger owns a 587-222-6 career record in 20 years of coaching.
BRIDOVA OUT WITH ANKLE INJURY
Maryland sophomore setter Katarina Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) is out indefinitely after spraining her ankle in practice last week. Bridova has appeared in 11 matches, playing in 23 games. She is averaging 2.52 assists per game.
TERPS' STREAK SNAPPED
Maryland's 34-match ACC regular-season winning streak came to a halt on Sept. 25, after the Terps dropped a 3-0 decision to the Duke Blue Devils. The streak dated back to Oct. 21, 1995, when the Terps suffered a 3-1 loss to Clemson. The last time a Maryland team had been swept in the ACC regular season was Oct. 20, 1995, when Georgia Tech defeated the Terps, 3-0. Maryland ran through the ACC standings in 1996 and 1997, posting an undefeated mark of 16-0 in both seasons. No other team in ACC history has recorded a 16-0 ACC regular-season record.
