Field Hockey Team Heads to St. Louis for ACC-BIG TEN Challenge

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The sixth-ranked University of Maryland field hockey team (1-0), fresh off an 8-0 opening day victory over Richmond, headed off to St. Louis today to take part this weekend's first-ever ACC-Big Challenge. The Terps take on No. 11 Michigan (1-0) on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Michigan State (1-0) on Monday at 2 p.m.
Michigan defeated No. 10 Ball State 2-0 in their season-opener on Tuesday. Senior forward Amy Philbrook and sophomore forward Kelli Gannon both scored for the Wolverines. Michigan State squeaked by Central Michigan 2-1 in their season-opener on Tuesday. Freshmen Jessica Wheeler and Sanne van Nouhuys scored for the Spartans.
Eight of the 10 teams at the ACC-Big Ten Challenge are currently ranked in the NFHCA/STX poll. Since St. Louis (which is hosting the competition) has two playing fields, two games will be going on at the same time. The complete schedule is as follows:
