COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland womens soccer team played in its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament, won 11 games and nearly tied the school record for regular season conference victories while playing one of the nations toughest schedules.

The Terps defeated Fairfield University, 4-3, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to William & Mary, 2-0, in the second round. It marked the third time in school history that the Terps had won at least one game in the NCAA Tournament.

In addition, Maryland won 11 games over the course of the season to bring its four-year total to 60 which averages out to 15 victories a yaer from 1995-98. it is the winningest four-year period in school history. The Terps fell one victory shy of tying the school record for ACC wins in a season with three. The school record of four was established by both the 1995 and 1997 teams.

SARVER SETS SCHOOL RECORDS FOR GOALS, ASSISTS AND TOTAL POINTS
Senior Keri Sarver (Massillon, Ohio), one of the top players in school history, closed her career as the program leader in eight different offensive categories including career goals (61), career assists (33) and career total points (155). She has established school-records for total points in a single season (49) and has tied the single season-school record for goals in a season (21). Her goals and points totals are personal bests for the senior.

FIVE TERPS EARN ALL-ACC HONORS
Senior forward Keri Sarver and senior defender Abby Bausman (Glen Arm, Md.) were named to the All-ACC first team. Senior forward Emmy Harbo (Baton Rouge, La.), junior defender Emily Janss (Brandon, Fla.) and sophomore goalkeeper Riki-Ann Serrins (Mission Viejo, Calif.) earned second team all-conference honors.

TERPS SENIOR CLASS IS WINNINGEST IN SCHOOL HISTORY
Marylands senior class of Emmy Harbo (Baton Rouge, La.), Keri Sarver, midfielders Robin McCullough (Covington, Ga.) and Wendy Baldwin (Olney, Md.) and defenders Abby Bausman, Marybeth Egan (Salem, Mass.) and Laura Varela (Aurora, Colo.) is the all-time winningest senior class in school history. Over the course of the last four years, Maryland has a record of 60-31-6 for a winning percentage of 64.9. The senior class played in three NCAA Tournaments, two ACC Tournament championship games and set a school record for victories in a single season (19) in 1996.

SARVER, HARBO RANK AMONG ACCS TOP 10
Keri Sarver and Emmy Harbo closed their career ranked in the top 10 in scoring in ACC history. Sarver scored three goals against Fairfield in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to move her career point total to 155. Sarver is ranked seventh in conference history while Harbo has totaled 140 total points to rank ninth.

Maryland returns six starters to its 1998 team including rising seniors Emily Janss, Tiffany Keyes, Lindsay Basalyga and Jackie Mynarski ... Three players who scored a total of five game-winning goals (Mynarski, 3; Janss, 1; Lacertosa, 1) also return to the 1998 lineup ... Marylands senior class totaled 39 goals and 31 assists for 109 total points ... Maryland defeated three ranked teams and tied another in 1998 ... Alan Kirkup is the sixth winningest head coach in Division I womens soccer history with 180 career victories.

BAUSMAN RECORDS CAREER HIGH
Senior defender Abby Bausman, a first team All-ACC selection, recorded a career-high three assists this season.

MCCULLOUGH CLOSES CAREER AMONG LEADERS
Senior Robin McCullough closed her career ranked among the top five in career goals (21, 5th), career assists (24, 3rd) and career total points (66, 3rd). She is one of only three players in school history to rank among the top five in school history in all three categories. She also closed her career as the all-time leader in games played with 97. She played and started every game during the 1996, 1997 and 1998 seasons and played in every game played by the Terps during her four-year career. McCullough was a second team All-ACC selection in both 1996 and 1997.

CAREER ASSIST LEADERS
Seniors Keri Sarver (33 career assists), Emmy Harbo (28) and Robin McCullough (24) closed their career as the top three ranked players in career assists in Maryland history. Sarver recorded a single-season school-record 15 assists in 1996 while Harbo had a career-high 12 in 1998 and McCullough a career-high nine assists, also this season.

SERRINS, WOLFF ON ALL-TIME TOP 5 LIST
Sophomore goalkeeper Riki-Ann Serrins (Mission Viejo, Calif.) recorded a career-high 50 saves and sophomore Ali Wolff (Richmond, Va.) has recorded 47 saves this season. Serrins total during the 1998 season ranks as the 10th best single-season total in school history. She now has 89 career saves which ranks fifth in school history. She recorded a career-high 13 saves against Wake Forest on Oct. 25. Wolff now ranks fourth in school history with 109 career saves. She recorded a season-high 12 saves against North Carolina on Oct. 23.

MYNARSKI IS TOP UNDERCLASS SCORER
Junior defender Jackie Mynarski (Somers, N.Y.), who has scored a career-high tying five goals (including a career-high three game-winning goals) and added a career-high five assists, will return for the 1999 season as the Terps top scorer. Mynarski is the only non-senior to rank among the top four in team scoring. She scored game-winning goals against NC State, No. 23 George Mason and Colorado.

CAREER GOALS-AGAINST AVERAGE LEADERS
Marylands goalkeeping tandem of Riki-Ann Serrins and Ali Wolff allowed only 44 goals this season and have combined for a 1.85 goals- against average. It marked the second consecutive season that the pair has held its opposition under a two goals per game average. Their performances in the last two seasons have allowed the pair to join the Terps all-time top five list.

JANSS BOLSTERS LINEUP
Junior midfielder Emily Janss (Brandon, Fla.), a second team All-ACC selection in both 1997 and 1998, has started and played in 73 career games (every game of her career since her arrival as a freshman). She has totaled nine career goals and five career assists for 23 total points. She is one of four players in school history to earn all-conference honors multiple times during her career.

KLOTZ REIGNS AS LEADING FRESHMAN SCORER
Freshman forward Carrie Klotz (Homer, N.Y.) led all Maryland freshmen in scoring with five total points during the 1998 season. She scored two goals (against Southern California and Florida State) and was one of seven players to score multiple goals. She has played in all 22 games while starting eight.

BEIRNE IS FRESHMAN LEADER IN ASSISTS
Freshman forward Courtney Beirne (Westminster, Md.) leads Marylands freshman class in assists with three. She played in all 22 games and started a freshman class high 10 games, including Marylands NCAA Tournament game against Fairfield.

College Park, Md. - Senior Keri Sarver scored three goals, including the game-winner with 21 seconds remaining, lifting Maryland (11-10-1) to a 4-3 victory over Fairfield (18-2) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Wednesday. Sarver, whose three-goal outburst gives her 21 goals for the season, took a pass from junior Jackie Mynarski and lifted the ball past Fairfield goalie Anne Lyons.

Newport News, Va. - Seniors Mary Totman and Avery Willis scored one goal each to lead the College of William & Mary past Maryland, 2-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Christopher Newport University. William & Mary advances to play No. 1 ranked North Carolina Friday night while Marylands season comes to a close. Junior goalkeeper Michelle Horbaly recorded seven saves for her 12th shutout of the season. Wolff made seven saves for the Terps.
