Remy Hired as Assistant Womens Soccer Coach

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The University of Maryland has announced the hiring of Katherine Remy as assistant womens soccer coach. Remy joins the athletic department after serving as the assistant womens soccer coach at the University of Pennsylvania. In her new position, she will be responsible for assisting head coach Alan Kirkup with scouting, recruiting, coaching, practice and game scheduling, and the administration of the teams budget.

Remy has worked at the University of Pennsylvania since the fall of 1996, serving not only as assistant womens soccer coach, but also as the office coordinator in the Office of Health Education. She also served as the assistant academic coordinator for athletics from August, 1996, to May, 1997.

Prior to her coaching experience, Remy was a four-year starter for Duke (1992-95) where she earned Soccer News second team All-America and sophomore All-America honors. She was named first team All-ACC in 1993, and was named to the ACC all-tournament team in 1992 and 93.

Remy also participated on the 1994 U.S. Womens National "B" soccer team, and was a 1994 and 95 U.S. Olympic Festival participant.

Remy will earn her masters degree in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania this month. She holds a bachelors degree in history/sociology from Duke where she graduated in 1996.
