Volleyball Team Beats Louisville, Falls to UNLV

COLLEGE PARK, MD.--- Freshman outside hitter Carey Brennan (Smithsburg, Md.) posted 12 kills in 17 attempts, leading Maryland (4-5) to a 15-6, 15-2, 15-8 win over Louisville (2-5) in the final day of the Maryland Tournament on Saturday at Ritchie Coliseum. Later in the day, UNLV (6-0) handed the Terps a 15-5, 11-15, 15-12, 15-9 setback.

In other action in the Maryland Tournament, Colorado State (7-0) won the team title by defeating Rutgers (2-5) 15-1, 15-6, 15-4 and downing Louisville 15-4, 15-2, 15-8. UNLV also defeated Rutgers 15-8, 15-11, 15-11.

Colorado State was paced by Catie Vagneur, who recorded nine kills against Rutgers and eight kills against Louisville on her way to being named the tournament MVP. UNLV used 17 service aces, including a career-high eight by Christel Eves in its win over Maryland. In its win over Rutgers, UNLV was led by Jeanette Graves and Justine Kamelamela, each of whom posted 12 kills.

Maryland returns to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Ritchie Coliseum, as it faces George Mason.
