Maryland Women's Golf Team Finishes Competition At First Event

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Junior Sarah Bedford improved her score by five strokes and her overall place by eight positions as the Maryland women's golf team finished competition in the Unlimited Potential/Baytree Classic at the Baytree Plantation Golf Club here Sunday. Bedford shot a personal tournament low 84 as she continued to show improvement over the course of the three-day tournament. She improved her overall scored by eight strokes from her day one total through her day three total.
The event is the first ever for the Terp women's golf program that was established in 1998.
The Terps had at least three players shot in the 80's for the third consecutive day. Maryland was led by Bedford (83), freshman Jennifer Gibson (84) and freshman Brooke Bendler (89).
Gibson was the most consistent Terp as she shot an 81+81+84 (246) during the three-day event. Bendler also displayed a great deal of consistency as she shot 84+77+89 (250) in her first collegiate event. Bendler shot a team-low 77 during round two.
