Maryland Head Coach Ron Vanderlinden
On the Terps' victory "I am the most surprised guy in here that we shut West Virginia out. Going through the first quarter, it was exactly the kind of game that I was expecting-a game that we were just going to have to play our butts off. So, I want to first compliment the players-they did a great job-and they deserve all of the credit for the way they bought into (our system) and really came together. They deserve a lot of credit for their off season work and for the efforts they put in on and off the field."
On the team's play calling "Our coaching staff did a great job on both sides of the ball. We made big plays that were well executed at very timely spots of the game. The coaches and players deserve a lot of credit."
Pre-game approach "I go into every game telling our players that if they win by one point at the end of the game, it will be a tremendous success. When you go in with that approach, sometimes these things happen. When you go in any other way, you might be setting yourself up for frustration."
Maryland's outlook "I'm very happy for Maryland. It's the third game of the season...and it was just another game. I would have said the same thing if we had lost. We're 3-0 and I love our position. I give the credit to our players."
