
Virginia Defeats Maryland in Volleyball Action

COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Deanna Zwarich posted 12 kills to lead Virginia (9-4, 2-1 ACC) to a three-game win over the Maryland (7-9, 2-1 ACC) in volleyball action on Tuesday night at Ritchie Coliseum.
The Cavaliers broke a 13-13 tie in the first game to defeat the Terrapins 15-13. Virginia then opened up the second game with nine consecutive points on its way to a 15-2 win.
The Cavaliers raced out to a 10-3 lead in the third game and sealed the match with a 15-7 victory.
Beth Murphy (Golden, Colo.) and Nnenna Amobi (Silver Spring, Md.) posted 12 and 11 kills respectively for Maryland. Freshman setter Lindsay Davey (Aurora, Colo.) dished out a career-high 35 assists.
Mary Frances Scott had 44 assists for Virginia.
Maryland travels to Florida State on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Seminoles.
