Maryland Gymnasts Finish Fourth At Arizona State Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore Laura Moon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) won the all-around for fourth-place Maryland (3-1) at the Arizona State Meet on Friday night. The No. 6 Terrapins accumulated a team score of 191.950. Fifth-ranked Arizona State (5-0) extended its regular season home winning streak at Wells Fargo Arena to 23 with the victory on Friday night. The Sun Devils had a 194.700 while PAC-10 foe Stanford (2-1) took second with a 193.275. No. 19 Ohio State (2-4) was third with a 192.000.
Moon, last week's EAGL gymnast of the Week earned a 39.025 in rout to her victory in the all-around. Moon also finished third on the balance beam (9.875) and fourth on the vault (9.675). Teammate Gillian Cote (Fredericksburg, Va.) finished fourth in the all-around with a 38.200. Individually, she was also tied for fifth in the uneven parallel bars with a 9.800. Jill Fisher (Huntington, N.Y.) and Christine Holcombe (McMurray, Pa.) were the only other top-six finishers for the Terps. Fisher tied for third on the floor exercise with a 9.850, while Holcombe finished tied for fifth in the vault with a 9.650.
Arizona State's Kelly Christensen-Cowley won the uneven parallel bars with a 9.900 and the vault with a 9.750. Teammate Elizabeth McNabb took the floor exercise with a 9.950.and the balance beam with a 9.925.
The Terps are back in action on Monday at Southern Utah, and return home for a date with Radford on Friday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. That meet will be held in Ritchie Coliseum.
