Moon And Fisher Earn 9.9'S In Road Victory

RADFORD, Va. - Sophomore Laura Moon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned a 9.900 on beam and junior Jill Fisher (Huntington, N.Y.) earned a 9.900 in the floor exercise to lead the Maryland women's gymnastics team to a 192.000-187.450 victory against Radford University Sunday afternoon. Maryland's victory was the second against Radford this weekend, following a 194.175-182.825 win on Friday evening. Maryland now leads the series against Radford 17-0.
Moon's 9.900 on beam is a personal season high, team season high, and ties her career high. Fisher's 9.900 on floor ties the all-time second highest beam score in school history. Fisher earned the highest all-time floor score against Radford on Friday night with a 9.925.
In addition to Moon and Fisher earning first place on beam and floor, respectively, senior co-captain Rachel Dolbin (Pottsville, Pa.) earned first place on vault with a 9.725. Sophomore Gillian Cote (Fredericksburg, Va.) took first place on bars with a 9.875 and went on to win the all-around with a 39.075. Tonight was Cote's third straight all-around victory this year.
Maryland is now 4-3 overall, 1-0 in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL). The Terps will be in action once again on Friday, Feb. 4 when they compete against EAGL rivals Towson, North Carolina and North Carolina State in the Governor's Cup at Towson in Baltimore, Md.
