Six Terps Earn All-ACC Nods in Football

Nov. 28, 2000

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland football team had six players honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference for their play in the 2000 season. Leading the way were seniors LaMont Jordan and Kris Jenkins who were named to the conference's second team.

In addition to Jordan (the Terps' all-time leading rusher) and Jenkins (team's leader in sacks and TFLs in '00), four other players earned honorable mention status. Center Melvin Fowler, free safety Shawn Forte, strong safety Tony Jackson and punter Brooks Barnard all earned at least 20 points in voting for the conference team. Of those four, three (Fowler, Jackson and Barnard) have eligibility remaining and are expected to return next year.
