University of Maryland senior defensive tackle Kris Jenkins will be playing in Monday's 63rd Blue/Gray All-Star Football Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. The game will be televised on ABC at 12 noon eastern time, Christmas Day.
Jenkins is the only Terrapin football player who will be participating in the game, but he is not the only Terp who will be featured this offseason. Tailback LaMont Jordan will be playing in the Senior Bowl on January 20 in Mobile, Alabama, while Jenkins will be joined by fullback Matt Kalapinski and safety Shawn Forte on the same day in Maui at the Hula Bowl all-star game.

A four-year letterman who came on strong in his senior year...started 22 games and played in 14 others in his career at Maryland.
2000: Started all 11 games, despite having a high-ankle sprain for most of the season...led the Terps in tackles for loss (17) and sacks (8.0)...his eight sacks tied for the 10th-most for a single season in school history...also led the team in quarterback hurries with 18...had 62 tackles (42 unassisted) to lead all Terrapin defensive linemen...top performance of the season came at Duke (10-28) as he had 12 tackles, four TFLs and three sacks...a second team All-ACC selection along with TB LaMont Jordan.
1999: Appeared in all 11 games and made eight starts at a tackle position ... finished with 39 total tackles, an average of 3.6 per game ... had two tackles behind the line of scrimmage ... was credited with half a sack ... had one fumble recovery ... had a career-best 10 total tackles at Georgia Tech and six tackles vs. both Temple and West Virginia.
1998: Eight-game starter before missing the final three games with a pinched nerve in his shoulder ... sixth-leading returning tackler with 36 stops ... averaged 4.5 tackles per game ... 23 solos ... four TFLs for 23 yards, one sack ... named the outstanding freshman during spring drills.
1997: Appeared in all 11 games as a true freshman, finishing with 17 total tackles ... had three tackles each vs. North Carolina, West Virginia and Georgia Tech.
High School: Graduated from Belleville High School in 1997 ... was rated among the top 20 recruits in the state of Michigan as a senior by the Detroit Free-Press ... led his team to a 10-1 record and the 1995 Division III title ... earned all-area and all-conference honors ... also lettered in basketball and track ... qualified for the state meet in the discus ... high school coach was Bob LaPointe.
