Maryland Women's Gymnastics Falls To Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Junior Jill Fisher (Huntington, N.Y.) tied for second place in the floor exercise with a 9.925 as the No. 20 Maryland women's gymnastics team fell to No. 3 Michigan 197.275-193. Fisher's score marks her seventh-consecutive floor exercise score at a 9.900 or higher. Tonight's loss brings Maryland's record to 9-7.
Michigan controlled the entire meet, allowing only two Terrapins to finish within the top three in any event. In addition to Fisher's second-place floor finish, sophomore Gillian Cote (Fredericksburg, Va.) took third place in the all-around with a 39.100. Cote also placed fourth on beam with a 9.750.
The night belonged to Michigan senior Sarah Cain who won every single event and the all-around. McCain did not score below a 9.925. Tonight's all-around victory was McCain's fifth this season.
The Terps will be returning home for their next meet after a six-meet road trip. Western Michigan and James Madison will be traveling to College Park, Md. to take on Maryland at Ritchie Coliseum on Thursday, Mar. 2. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
