Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At Snowbird Intercollegiate

Tampa, Fla. - The Maryland women's golf team registered a two-day score of 630 and finished tied for seventh place among 20 teams at the 14th Annual Snowbird Intercollegiate hosted by Northern Illinois University. Freshman Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md.) led the Terps with a par second-round score of 72 at the 5,940-yard Pebblecreek Golf and Country Club course in Tampa, Fla. Iowa State's Laura Wells medalled both days for the second-place Cyclones, while Arkansas State took home the victory with team-best scores on both days of the event for a 612 total.
Clasper's two-day scorecard of 150 was good enough for a sixth-place individual finish among a field of 114 golfers. A second-round total of 77 for freshman Jennifer Gibson (Havertown, Pa.) placed her 20th with a 155 finish, while fellow frosh Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) shot a 78 on Friday finishing with a 158. Sophomore Brooke Bendler's (Salisbury, Md.) second day 89 and junior Sarah Bedford's (Montgomery Village, Md.) 85 totaled 171 and 175 for the tournament, respectively.
The women's golfers return to the links April 2-4 when the Terrapins take part in the Campbell College Invitational. That event will be held in Buies Creek, N.C.
