AUGUSTA, Ga. -
University of Maryland's men's golf team shot a two-over-par round on Sunday's final 18 holes and went on to finish in eighth place at the 19-team Cleveland Golf Invitational here at Forest Hills Golf Club. It marked Maryland's third top 10 team finish in four spring events.
The Terps entered the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tourney in 10th place but climbed two positions on the strength of showings by Gary Mankulish (Laurel, Md.) and Corey Brigham (Rumson, N.Y.), both of whom posted top 20 finishes. Mankulish shot a three-under 69 - his first sub-70 round of the spring - to finish at three-under 213. Brigham shot his second straight 72 after opening with a one-under 71 in the first 18 holes on Saturday. Mankulish tied for ninth and Brigham tied for 16th. Maryland finished with a team total of 872, eight over par.
