Maryland Women's Golf Earns Top Finish Of Spring Season

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Junior Sarah Bedford (Montgomery Village, Md.) shot a career-low 163 and finished in a tie for seventh place in the individual standings to lead the Maryland women's golf team to a fifth place finish at the James Madison University Women's Golf Invitational at the Lakeview Country Club. The fifth-place team finish was the highest of the season for the Terps who shot their second lowest gross score of season.
The Terps closed out their regular season with their fifth-place finish and play in their first Atlantic Coast Conference championship on April 14-16 at the Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons, N.C.
Bedford enjoyed the best tournament of her collegiate career as she shot 80 and 83 for a two-day total of 163 (+19). Her two scores were her lowest of the season and her total versus par was her best by 12 strokes. Bedford's best previous individual finish was 51st at the Campbell University Fighting Camel Invitational earlier this week (April 3-4).
Freshman Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) finished in a tie for 17th-place with a two-day total of 166. Freshman Erin Clasper (N. Potomac, Md.) finished in a tie for 23rd-place with a two-day 167 total. Sophomore Brooke Bendler (Salisbury, Md.) enjoyed her best finish of the season (tied for 28th-place) with a two-day total of 169. Freshman Jennifer Gibson (Havertown, Pa.) improved by seven her day-one score (91-84) and finished in 38th place.
