COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The Maryland women's tennis team (7-9, 1-5 ACC) fell 5-0 to No. 13 Duke (12-5, 4-1 ACC) today in the College Park Tennis Bubble. The victory was decided by playing only the Nos. 1, 3 and 5 singles matches. Maryland forfeited at the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles spots, the other matches were not played. High winds forced both the men's and the women's teams inside the Tennis Bubble today. Since both teams had to share the three-court space, the women's match ended early to accommodate the men's schedule.
Duke earned victories in all three matches that were played. Megan Miller defeated freshman Delila Causevic (Silver Spring, Md.) 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1. Junior Catherine Valantin (Metz, France) played only a portion of her first set at No. 3 before having to forfeit due to a leg injury. Junior Chrissie Terrill (Plano, Tex.) dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to Prim Siripipat.
Maryland hits the road next weekend to complete its regular season competition. They will compete at Wake Forest on Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m. and N.C. State on Sunday, April 16 at noon.
