Sept. 19, 2000

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The second official 2000 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll of the season was released Sept. 19, with the reigning national champion Maryland Terrapins once again the unanimous No. 1 selection. The Terps (7-0) took all 24 first place votes for the second consecutive week of the 2000 season. The Terrapins have earned the No. 1 spot in the previous seven consecutive NFHCA polls, dating back to Oct. 26 of last season.

Eight of this week's Top 20 teams are on Maryland's 2000 schedule. The No. 1 Terps have already met No. 7 Connecticut (W, 9-1, Aug. 26), No. 2 Old Dominion (W, 5-4 2OT, Sept. 3) and No. 10 Massachusetts (W, 2-0, Sept. 16). The Terrapins will put their 7-0 record and 29 game win streak on the line at No. 6 Wake Forest (7-0) this Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. Maryland travels to No. 11 Princeton (Sept. 29), No. 8 Virginia (Oct. 1) and faces ODU again in Norfolk (Oct. 15) before hosting No. 12 James Madison (Oct. 20) and No. 3 North Carolina in an ACC tilt on Oct. 22.
