New York, N.Y.- Senior middle hitter Maren Stuart (Tampa, Fla.) smacked 13 kills as the University of Maryland women's volleyball team won its second consecutive match of the season defeating Columbia 15-4, 15-7, 15-1, at the Columbia/LIU Invitational in New York City.
Despite a delay for rowdy crowd behavior, there was not much that could slow down the Terps Friday night. Maryland sprinted out to a 5-0 lead in all three games in the whitewash of Columbia. Sophomore setter Lindsay Davey (Aurora, Colo.) recorded 30 assists and sophomore Carey Brennan (Smithburg, Md.) smacked ten kills and registered nine digs to fuel the offensive attack for the Terrapins.
With the win, Maryland improves to 2-3 on the season and Columbia drops to 1-1. The Terrapins are back in action tomorrow in the final day of the Columbia/LIU Invitational with two matches. Maryland takes on Long Island at noon Saturday and face Lafayette at 2:00 p.m.
