* Led by junior Carter Crowther, (Kilmarnock, Va.), the Terps finished in 11th place in their first showing at the Dodge ACC/SEC Invitational. * Sophomore Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) tied her career-low score, a 74 on Saturday0. This finish help vault her 10 places in three days, a 36th place finish with a three day total of 242.
Terps At A Glance * Head coach Jason Rodenhaver, who built the women's golf program from the ground up in 1999, has seen his squad steadily improve since its inception at Maryland three years ago. The Terps look to continue their success this fall with the return of eight letterwinners and the arrival of one outstanding freshman.
* The most consistent Terp last spring was Marie Harper, who posted a 78.92 stroke average across five tournaments. Her best finish, a sixth-place tying 152 (78-74--152), helped the Terrapins to the first-ever tournament championship in program history at the James Madison Lady Dukes Invitational April 7-8, 2001. * Junior Carter Crowther registered a 79.80 average in two tournaments last spring after being sidelined by mononucleosis. Crowther's recovery was evident when she fired the first eagle in program history at the JMU Invitational.
* Junior captain Erin Clasper (Potomac, Md.), sophomore Katie Redeker, sophomore Kara Gropler (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and junior Jennifer Gibson (Havertown, Pa.) also return after making solid contributions last spring. Clasper's 79.90 average over four tournaments was second on the squad.
Summer Success * Junior Carter Crowther's medalist finish at the Virginia State Golf Association Tournament was among several strong summer performances.
* Juniors Erin Clasper and Jennifer Gibson finished No. 2 and No. 3 at the Collegiate Players Tournament outside of Atlanta.
