Scott Buete and Willette Dority Named Maryland Student-Athletes of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. Sophomore letters and sciences major Scott Buete (Bowie, Md.) and senior public relations and criminal justice major Willette Dority (Congers, N.Y.) have been named the Maryland Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances in athletic competition the week of Oct. 15 - Oct. 21.
Scott Buete help lead the men's soccer team to victories over both No. 11 South Carolina and the College of Charleston to win the Gamecock Classic in Columbia, S.C. Buete, who received co-captain honors before the Friday night match, netted the game winner with 10 seconds left in the first half to lead the Terps to a 1-0 win over USC. The sophomore midfielder also played an intricate part in the Terps offense as they defeated the College of Charleston 3-0 in the championship game. Buete received all-tournament team recognition and was named the most valuable attacking player in the tournament. In addition, Buete was named ACC co-player of the week for his performance in the Gamecock Classic.
Willette Dority helped the Terps to two ACC victories including one over No. 25 North Carolina, in volleyball action. The middle hitter recorded 47 kills on the week and averaged 1.08 blocks per game, including a career high eight against Florida State. Dority averaged 3.62 kills per game and hit .398 on the week to improve the team's record to 10-9 on the season. In Maryland's win over the Tar Heels, Dority racked up 17 kills, 10 digs, and two blocks. For her efforts, she received her first ACC player of the week honors. Dority leads the volleyball squad to Charlottesville, Va. on Oct. 27 to face the Virginia Cavaliers in the first of three consecutive ACC match-ups on the road.
