
New Security Measures Implemented For Remainder Of Football Season

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Fans are reminded that increased security measures will be in place for all of Maryland's remaining home football games as a result of the national tragedy of September 11th.
BYRD STADIUM REGULATIONS:
-- Continued enforcement of long-standing policy that PROHIBITS the following items in Byrd Stadium:
o No alcohol
o No "bottled" water
o No food
o No backpacks
o No containers, coolers, bottles, or cups
o No umbrellas
o No pets
o No ticket "pass-outs" or re-entry into stadium
-- The following items ARE PERMITTED in Byrd Stadium, but are SUBJECT TO SEARCH:
o Small handbags or purses
o Fannypacks
o Medical bags
o Baby bags
o Seat cushions
o Cameras and video cameras
o Binoculars
o Handheld radios (no "boom boxes")
o Signs and flags (but no sign/flag poles, and signs/flags made of potentially dangerous material(s) and signs/flags that restrict the view of other fans will be confiscated by stadium personnel)
Additional Security Measures:
-- All parking areas will be monitored for suspicious vehicles.
-- Vehicular access inside and directly around Byrd Stadium will be restricted.
-- The tailgating restrooms at the Southwest corner of Byrd Stadium are now closed.
-- University police will lock down and monitor the stadium the day preceding home games.
-- University police will conduct stadium sweep on game day.
