COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Maryland junior Carey Brennan (Smithsburg, Md.) was named to the AVCA All-Region team Wednesday by the AVCA. Brennan, who led the Terps in kills and digs for the second consecutive season, was one of 10 players from the ACC to be named to the East Region squad.
Brennan is the ninth Maryland player all-time to be selected to the AVCA All-Region team. It also marks the first time since 1997 that the Terps have placed a player on the team.
Brennan ranked third in the ACC with 3.19 digs per game while placing sixth in the conference with 3.91 kills per game. In her three seasons in College Park, Brennan has totaled 1,130 kills and needs just 108 to become Maryland's all-time leader in kills.
This latest honor for Brennan is one of three postseason awards she has earned. Brennan was also named second-team All-ACC and to the all-tournament team at the ACC Volleyball Championship.
