Women's Golf In Fifth Place After Second Round Of The ACC Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Maryland women's golf team dropped one spot on the leaderboard after completing second round of the 13th Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf Tournament at Disney's Palm Course. The Terps dropped nine strokes from their previous round (314) and finished day two with a combined score of 323, +61.
Freshman Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) was Terps' leader in today's competition. Harper led the team with a score of 78 (+6) and is the only Terp to place in the top-10 individually. She finished the day tied in tenth with a two-day combined score of 155 (+11). Freshman teammate Katie Redeker (Pepper Pikes, Ohio) dropped eight spots from her fifth place individual first-round standing after completing second round with a disappointing 80 (+8). Redeker is currently placed in 13th place individually with a two-day combined score of 156 (+12).
Duke freshman Virada Nirapathpongporn shot a one-under par 71 and the No. 1-ranked Blue Devils strengthened their lead in the team standings. Nirapathpongporn holds an eight-stroke lead over Florida State's Kristin Tamulis in the individual standings while Duke has a 21-stroke lead over Wake Forest in the team standings. The Blue Devils are attempting to win their conference-record sixth consecutive women's golf championship.
Tamulis led Florida State's charge past Maryland and into fourth place. She shot a two-over par 74 and enters the third round only four strokes behind Nirapathpongporn.
Final round of competition will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday morning. This is a half-hour change from the earlier posted time.
