Despite great efforts by former Maryland soccer stars Emily Janss and Michelle Demko, the New York Power and Philadelphia Charge were eliminated from the WUSA playoffs on Saturday.
Janss scored her second goal of the season -- to tie the game at 1-1 -- but her New York Power lost to the Bay Area CyderRays, 3-2 in San Jose, Calif.
Demko added an assist on the Charge's second goal as it took a 2-0 lead, but fell to first-place Atlanta, 3-2 in overtime.
