College Park, Md. - Sports Illustrated for Women has recognized Maryland's athletic department once again for its excellence in women's sports, this time as part of its "Scouting Report" feature for this coming year. The Terrapins' field hockey and women's lacrosse squads are both listed at the top of what SI for Women deems college teams and individuals that will distinguish themselves this year.
As highlighted by SI for Women, the field hockey team returns eight seniors and nine exciting newcomers as it pushes for its fifth ACC championship and the program's fourth national championship for the Terps. The women's lacrosse team, which is coming off its seventh straight NCAA championship, suffered sizeable losses to graduation but is still the team to beat according to SI for Women.
Another familiar face in the magazine this issue is Maryland former women's lacrosse standout Jen Adams (South Brighton, Australia). Adams completed her four-year Terp career with such accolades as garnering three-time women's lacrosse player of the year honors, becoming the NCAA's all-time leading scorer, and leading Maryland to four straight NCAA championships. SI for Women highlights part of the All-American's workout regiment, free weights, in its "Sweat Equity" section of the magazine.
