COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland field hockey team added a game to its schedule this week, traveling to the campus of Ohio State University for a match against No. 6 Michigan State. The No. 3 Terrapins (5-1) take on the Spartans at 11 a.m. at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center North Turf Field at 11 a.m. The No. 15 host-Buckeyes will face the tenth-ranked Louisville Cardinals at 1 p.m. following the Terrapins' match.
Michigan State achieved a top 10 ranking after opening the 2001 season with a 3-2 overtime win over defending national champion Old Dominion and a 2-0 shutout of 2000 national semifinalist Wake Forest. The Spartans have defeated Pacific and Virginia Commonwealth and lost to Stanford and Duke to compile a 4-2 record on the season.
Both the Atlantic Coast Conference and Big Ten had postponed all athletics contests through the weekend in the aftermath of Sept. 11's national tragedy.
